The government in Ireland plans to cut agriculture emissions by 25% by 2030 which will drive many farms into bankruptcy, say experts.

Irish Farmers To Kill Livestock For Government

Under a new government plan, agriculture must reduce emissions by 25% by 2030.

Other sectors face even higher targets – transport must reduce emissions by 50%, commercial and public buildings by 40% – but the loudest protests have come from farmers.

They say that cutting emissions by a quarter will drive many farms into bankruptcy and could force the culling of hundreds of thousands of cows.

“The mood is hugely frustrated,” said Pat McCormack, head of the Irish Creamery Milk Suppliers Association. “It’s very hard to quantify but there will be increased costs and reduced output.”

The Rich and Famous Emissions – Exempt?

Private jet emissions quadrupled as 1,040 planes flew in and out of Davos airports during the 2022 World Economic Forum (WEF) meeting.

Climate campaigners accused the rich and powerful of hypocrisy in flying in on private jets to a conference discussing climate breakdown.

Klara Maria Schenk, a transport campaigner for Greenpeace’s European mobility campaign, said: “The rich and powerful are swarming to Davos to discuss climate and inequality behind closed doors, using the most unequal and polluting form of transport: private jets. Meanwhile, Europe is experiencing its warmest January days on record and communities worldwide are grappling with extreme weather events supercharged by the climate crisis.”

Emissions from private jets have soared in Europe, according to a new Greenpeace report.

The environmental group found that private jets emitted a total of 5.3 million tonnes of CO2 in the last three years, with the number of flights skyrocketing from nearly 119,000 in 2020 to 573,000 in 2022.

That amount of carbon dioxide is more than Uganda – a country of some 46 million people – produces in a year.

    1. THAT IS THE STUPIDEST IDEA I EVER HEARD ,,, PLANT MORE TREES AND CROPS AND USE THE COW DUNG FOR FERTILIZER , TREES CLEAN THE AIR AND CROPS SOAK UP THE SUN , AND JUST STOP BREEDING THE COWS FOR AWHILE , DRINK MILK , EAT CHEESE ITS GOOD FOR THE BONES !

      1. That is the most excellent idea, however we have idiots world wide with ignorant ideas. Forests are being destroyed in many nations. The air and waters are being pullulated, and forests are being destroyed for the wood and development with no plans to plant new trees.
