Ex-Planned Parenthood Director Commits Suicide Ahead of Child Porn Investigation

Former executive of Planned Parenthood, Tim Yergau, was raided by police under suspicious of child porn, and committed suicide five days later.

A 36-year-old former Planned Parenthood employee took his own life last week, police said, just five days after authorities raided his home in connection with a child pornography investigation.

Tim Yergeau, the former director of strategic communications at the Southern New England branch of Planned Parenthood, died by suicide on Tuesday amid a child pornography investigation in Connecticut last week.

“The person who died was definitely the suspect in a child pornography investigation and the person who committed suicide,” New Haven Police Chief Karl Jacobson told the New Haven Registrar.

“A large amount of evidence was gathered,” he said at a press conference on Monday, April 17. 

Jacobson explained they could not arrest Yergeau at the time due to the warrant.

Yergeau left Planned Parenthood to become the communications director at Long Wharf Theatre in August 2022.

The Charges

The search warrant, released by the chief on Monday, described what the officers were looking for including horrific videos and photographs of men having sex with young children, both male, and female.

Police have yet to release details of the warrant and charges against Yergeau, saying there are still two open investigations related to the matter. Police have also declined to reveal what was found inside Yergeau’s apartment once they searched it.

Botched Man Hunt

According to the New Haven Police Department Chief Karl Jacobson, officers were serving the search warrant for Tim Yergau, the suspected child pornographer. when they went to the wrong apartment on the wrong floor and knocked in a door with a battering ram.

Inside the apartment were a woman and her two children.

The woman was handcuffed and questioned about where Tim Yergeau, of New Haven was, and who was in the house. 

When she realized they were looking for her downstairs neighbor, officers unhandcuffed her and left (the door was repaired by the department). 

Police say they have opened an inquiry into how Yergeau committed suicide following the raid.
