The ex-Biden official was arrested last month for another luggage theft case and was recently spotted in public since his third arrest.
Ex-Biden Official Arrested on Third Theft Charge
The former Biden administration nuclear official who was axed late last year after he was caught red-handed in a string of luggage thefts was arrested at home in the middle of May, police confirmed.
Samuel Brinton, 35, was taken into custody at his home in Rockville, Maryland, at 10 p.m. Wednesday, May 17th, the Montgomery Country Police Department stated.
“Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Police executed a search warrant May 17 in Montgomery County, Maryland, in connection with allegations of stolen property in luggage from Reagan National Airport that was brought to the department’s attention in February 2023,” James Johnson, a spokesperson for the MWAA stated.
“With the assistance of Montgomery County Police, Samuel Otis Brinton, age 35, of Rockville, Maryland, was taken into custody Wednesday pending charges of Grand Larceny,” Johnson said.
Brinton Is No Stranger To Theft
The latest arrest comes a month after Brinton escaped jail time in two separate cases in Minnesota and Nevada involving luggage thefts.
Brinton was first caught red-handed on video taking a woman’s Vera Bradley luggage worth $2,325 at the Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport on Sept.16, 2022. He was seen with the suitcase while traveling in Washington, D.C. on Sept. 18 and Oct. 9, investigators said.
Brinton also pleaded no contest to stealing luggage at the Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas in July 2022.
Sam Brinton Spotted Since Arrest
The former White House official was spotted beaming in public while stepping out for the first time since being arrested on May 17 over accusations he stole a Tanzanian fashion designer’s dresses and luggage.
Brinton was initially booked in a Montgomery County jail in Maryland and flagged as a “fugitive from justice” in connection to the latest case.
