DeSantis knows how to draw the attention of Floridians, and America with his call for a special session, creating a new “Election Police”, and then, there’s Biden’s book burner comment.
Let’s dive right in.
Special Session Called
Republican Governor Ron DeSantis, the 46th governor of Florida since 2019, recently proclaimed he will call for a special legislative session next month, in May, to address several pressing issues, especially insurance reform.
DeSantis signed a bill into place on Monday giving the green light to create a police force dedicated to pursuing voter fraud and other election crimes. He wants Floridians to know that their vote matters, and their votes are safe and secure. Especially after the alleged voter fraud from the unforgettable 2020 election.
Democrats oppose his maneuver for an election police force.
Biden’s Book Burning
On Wednesday, from the White House, Biden said “Did you ever think, even you younger teachers, did you ever think you’d be teaching, and you’d be worried about book-burnings and banning books, all because it doesn’t fit somebody’s political agenda?”
DeSantis faces opposition for his decision to keep CRT, common core, and social-emotional learning out of Florida’s public school system. Recently his administration rejected 54 math books out of 132 during a recent review. This came after books on these subjects were banned in the state of Florida.
As far as we can tell, there have been no official “book burnings” because of DeSantis.
DeSantis knows how to make strides, and fast. Lately, he’s been in fires. Decisive, swift, and keeps things moving.
Once he meets with legislation during the special session, we are sure there will be more to discuss, such as what the new election police will look like.
Election dates in Florida for 2022 are Primary Election: August 23rd, and General Election: November 8th.
