After discovering his wife’s lifeless body with several gunshot wounds inside their residence, Timothy Bliefnick, a 39-year-old Quincy, Ill. resident, was arrested by the authorities.

Initially, a relative found Rebecca Bliefnick, 41, after she failed to pick up their three children from school, which prompted authorities to respond to a suspected break-in at their residence.

At the time of her death, Timothy and Rebecca Bliefnick had been living separately for multiple years and were in the process of finalizing their divorce.

Puzzling Crime

Prior to Bliefnick’s apprehension, several Quincy locals were concerned that the homicide was a random act, and the perpetrator was still unidentified and on the loose.

“This brutal crime has had the Quincy community on edge and our residents living in fear,” Quincy Police Chief Adam Yates said on the department’s Facebook page.

“I hope today’s announcement can begin to calm some of those concerns.”

According to reports, the couple tied the knot in 2009. Timothy Bliefnick participated in the TV game show “Family Feud” in 2020 with his own family.

Family Gets Some Relief Over Arrest

Rebecca’s family expressed a sense of relief over Timothy’s arrest.

“While the arrest today provides a step towards closure, this journey is far from over and the investigation continues,” they said, Fox News Digital reported.

“Our highest priority remains protecting and loving Becky’s sons who were the lights of her life. As we continue mourning, we will love and care for them in the ways we know she would want.
