A man in Mill Creek, Washington attempted to take over a home while the owners were present. He was later arrested for theft, burglary, and drug possession.
Residents Smell Cigarette Smoke in Attic
In Mill Creek, Washington, law enforcement apprehended a 24-year-old man who trespassed into a residence and attempted to take it over, while the legitimate occupants were present.
Police were called on Monday after a theft was reported, involving items such as a passport, wallet, and over $3,000 in cash.
Upon arriving at the scene, the officers discovered indications of someone residing in the loft upstairs. The homeowner became aware of the intruder’s presence when he detected the odor of cigarette smoke inside the residence.
The police removed drug paraphernalia, a makeshift bed, and partially consumed food from the area, but they were unable to locate the intruder.
Intruder Wasn’t There, Likely Will Return
The officers cautioned the homeowners that the individual responsible might come back, and indeed he did.
Police were called to the same residence on Tuesday, which had been secured from the inside, and discovered 24-year-old Daniel Tomoiaga in the house, along with all of the items he had purportedly taken.
Police apprehended Tomoiaga, who had methamphetamine and 11 fentanyl pills in his possession at the time of his arrest.
Tomoiaga Charged
Tomoiaga was charged with second-degree theft, residential burglary, and possession of fentanyl and methamphetamine. He has been confined to Snohomish County Jail.
A $25,000 bail was established by a judge.
It’s unclear how long Tomoiaga was living in the home.
