Former President Donald Trump says the threat of a third world war is imminent following the invasion of Israel.
Trump Believes We Are On The Verge Of WWIII
Trump’s warning came during a campaign stop in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Saturday just hours after the terrorist organization Hamas began its invasion of the country.
Trump declared that Hamas’ weekend attack against Israel would not have taken place if he was president, calling it “an act of savagery that must and will be crushed.”
“We are closer to World War III than we’ve ever been,” Trump told attendees. “And I’m the only one that will prevent World War III.”
Trump went on to say that such a war would be the deadliest the world has seen, pointing to advancements in weapons.
Trump outlined his administration’s approach to Israeli-Palestinian relations, recounting the passage of the Abraham Accords, a peace proposal between the two mediated by the U.S. His administration also recognized Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights region, the first country to do so (the international community regards it as Syrian territory occupied by Israel).
Trump recounted several conversations he had with foreign leaders as president, acting out negotiations with China, Russia and other nations.
Joe Biden has repeatedly been accused of fueling the Hamas attack on Israel.Over the weekend, several Republican presidential candidates pointed to his recent release of $6 billion in blocked Iranian funds in exchange for freeing five Americans detained in the country, arguing the funds made the attack possible.
The White House has denounced the accusations, claiming that the funds from the prisoner swap have yet to be spent by Iran. A senior Biden official said Sunday that it is “too early to say” whether Iran was “directly involved in planning or supporting” the attack by Hamas.
U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken deleted a social media post Monday morning supporting a “cease-fire” in Israel, as well as “the release of all hostages held by Hamas.”
