School and Student Disagree on Term “Biological Woman”

Olivia Krolczyk, 20, said the professor for her Women’s Gender Studies in Pop Culture class failed her for using the “exclusionary” term despite admitting that she submitted a “solid proposal.”

Students were tasked with submitting a proposal for a final project about feminism, Krolczyk said. Her proposal was about the history of women in professional sports, including transgender women competing in women’s sports.

Krolczyk says her gender studies teacher gave her a zero on her essay proposal because she used the ‘forbidden’ term “biological women” and that this was not the first time she’s run into issues with this professor.

Olivia Krolczyk’s Concern Goes Viral

Twenty-year-old sophomore Olivia Krolczyk first told her story in a now-viral TikTok video, and this week gave an interview to the New York Post and Jesse Watters Primetime on Fox News to further share her experience.

Krolczyk said she decided to speak out because she feels “the issue is not being taken seriously” by the university.

Krolczyk told “Jesse Watters Primetime” Monday, the class syllabus states students can share opinions as long as they do not “cause harm to… classmates. No one in my class is going to be reading my paper unless she was going to share it without my permission,” she said.

Her TikTok video includes an image of an email she received from her professor, which states in part: “Olivia, this is a solid proposal. However, the terms ‘biological women’ are exclusionary and are not allowed in this course as they further reinforce heteronormativity.”

The Ohio native also claims hundreds of other students nationwide have contacted her about similar occurrences since she shared her video on TikTok.

The University of Cincinnati reportedly said Krolczyk’s dispute is being reviewed through its established policies and processes.

Krolczyk said she met with the school’s gender equity group and agreed she would do her project with her original proposal.

A new professor will grade her work, and a file will be sent to the dean.
