‘Playing With Fire’ Scientists Test New COVID Strain With 80% Death Rate

Scientists at Boston University condemned for 'playing with fire' after details emerged of testing a new deadly strain of the COVID virus.

A team of scientists at Boston University was condemned for ‘playing with fire’ after details emerged they are testing a very deadly strain of the COVID virus.

Scientists Create Deadly New Omicron Strain

The Daily Mail broke the story on Monday, alerting readers worldwide of the “new virus” that killed 8 out of 10 mice.

Research revealed that the team, from Boston and Florida, of researchers at Boston’s National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories, have “extracted Omicron’s spike protein, which has dozens of mutations in its spike protein that makes it so infectious. Researchers attached Omicron’s spike protein to the original wildtype strain that first emerged in Wuhan at the start of the pandemic. The researchers looked at how mice fared under the new hybrid strain compared to the original Omicron variant.”

The COVID virus latches onto human cells with its spike protein and instructs healthy cells to produce copies of itself.

The spike protein is responsible for the rate of infectivity and its deadliness comes from other structures of the virus.

The researchers said that mice, exposed to Omicron, exhibited only mild symptoms, but when exposed to the lab-created lethal virus, which has five times more infection particles than Omicron, eight out of ten mice died. The new virus includes a combination of the Omicron virus and the original virus from Wuhan.

Below is a snapshot from the “Role of spike in the pathogenic and antigenic behavior of SARS-CoV-2 BA.1 2 Omicron” paper released by the Boston University team of scientists. The research has not been peer-reviewed.

In the University’s paper, it states, “In…mice, while Omicron causes mild, non-fatal infection, the Omicron S-carrying virus inflicts severe disease with a mortality rate of 80 percent,” while finding that the hybrid strain produced five times more viral particles than the original Omicron.

Scientists claim the virus would not be as deadly in humans as in mice.

According to Boston University, the testing is to “help fight against future pandemics.”

Gain Of Function?

Gain of function research was largely restricted in the U.S. over concerns it could lead to the creation of a pandemic until 2017, at which time the National Institutes of Health began to allow it to take place using government funds.

A statement by Boston University claims their testing is not gain of function. They state “First, this research is not gain-of-function research, meaning it did not amplify the Washington state SARS-COV-2 virus strain (original virus from 2020) or make it more dangerous,” BU said in a statement following online reports that the university called “false and inaccurate.”

The research involves tinkering with viruses to make them more lethal or infectious, however, some experts are calling this “nothing to see here” virus research a gain of function project.

Biosafety Level 4 Labs

The lab, at Boston University’s National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories, is one of 13 biosafety level 4 labs in the US.

Boston University National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories, which gets funding from the National Institute of Health, where Fauci’s wife works, website states:

“At Boston University’s National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories (NEIDL), microbiologists, virologists, and other scientists have dropped their routine research projects to focus on the critical search for vaccines and treatments for COVID-19, which has killed hundreds of thousands of people around the world.”

In addition to the bombshell news of a new deadly COVID strain, the Gateway Pundit reported that a whistleblower provided evidence that COVID-19 was created in the Wuhan Lab.
