President Visits Florida’s Devastation
Biden visited hurricane-ravaged Florida on Wednesday to survey the damage left behind from category 4 storm Ian.
The President visited with Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) and the Mayor of Fort Meyers Beach, Ray Murphy, during his tour of Ian’s aftermath to help coordinate recovery efforts. DeSantis and his wife Casey greeted the President and first lady Jill Biden as they arrived at Fisherman’s Wharf, where homes and businesses are in ruins.
The presidential tour started with a helicopter ride for an aerial view of the storm damage with his wife, Jill.
Biden pledged to put all politics aside and said that state and local governments would work together to rebuild homes, businesses, and lives. He also mentioned that he and DeSantis had “one job and one job only” to “make sure the people of Florida get everything they need to fully and thoroughly recover.”
So far, reports state there have been around 84 confirmed deaths, 75 in Florida, and thousands of people still waiting to get power turned on.
During Biden’s remarks, he referred to DeSantis as “guv” and said, “I think he’s done a good job,” pointing out how well they worked together to respond to the storm’s destruction.
Biden Mic Drop
President Biden has been known to say inappropriate things on and “off” mic, and Wednesday was no different.
Following the remarks by DeSantis and Biden in Fort Myers, Florida, a microphone picked up Biden telling the town’s Mayor Ray Murphy that ‘you can’t argue with your brothers outside the house.’ The context of the conversation is not immediately clear.
In this exchange with Mayor Murphy, Biden went on to say “No one f**ks with a Biden” while shaking his hand. The mayor laughed and responded, “Yeah, you’re g-ddamn right.”
A Biden Focus
Biden mentioned one of his top investments, climate change, during his speech.
Many Twitter followers pointed out many other Cat 4 and Cat 5 hurricanes in years past, not just recently.
Biden also rambled on about light poles and more about climate change.
