A man died after falling from a balcony at Walt Disney World’s resort hotel in Florida earlier this week.
Man Dies At Disney Hotel
The Orange County Medical Examiner identified the victim as Jeffery Vanden Boom, 39, of Greendale, Wisconsin, who died from blunt force trauma on Wednesday morning.
Boom’s death has been ruled as an accidental fall from the balcony of his hotel room. However, authorities were initially investigating it as a suicide.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement: “On July 26, 2023 at 5:33 a.m., deputies responded to the Contemporary Resort after a call came in about a man found unresponsive on the hotel grounds.”
Disney World has not confirmed or responded to the incident.
Posts on social media, from people who claim they are hotel guests, said they saw a police tent and tape up in the area.
Guests were told to avoid going on their balconies, some added.
“I’m pretty sure someone just died at our hotel… we got a call at 7:30 someone had a medical emergency and not to go on the balconies and then they had people redirecting us,” wrote a Reddit user.
“And then we went outside and there’s a tent set up right under a balcony and it’s all taped up.”
It has been reported that the 5th-floor sky bridge connecting Bay Lake Tower to Disney’s Contemporary Resort was also closed to guests for a time while police investigated and were told to avoid going on their balconies.
Masters was taken to Celebration Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
