Legendary singer Tony Bennett has died after battling an Alzheimer’s disease diagnosis in 2015.

Tony Bennett, a singer whose melodic clarity, jazz-influenced phrasing, audience-embracing persona and warm, deceptively simple interpretations of musical standards helped spread the American songbook around the world and won him generations of fans, died on Friday at his home of many decades in Manhattan.
He was 96.
Bennett’s publicist Sylvia Weiner confirmed the news to the Associated Press, revealing he died in his hometown of New York. A cause of death has not been revealed, however, he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2015.
Bennett was, “The last of the great saloon singers of the mid-20th century” with 19 Grammys and more than 70 albums, according to the outlet.
In an eight-year career, Bennett wowed Bob Hope and Frank Sinatra, performed live on MTV, had a cartoon cameo on “The Simpsons,” and won 19 Grammy Awards and a lifetime achievement award from the Recording Academy.
His final album, the 2021 release “Love for Sale,” featured duets with Lady Gaga on the title track, “Night and Day,” and other Porter songs.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Benedetto, his two sons, Danny and Dae Bennett, his daughters Johanna Bennett and Antonia Bennett and nine grandchildren.
