Jen Psaki’s MSNBC Debut Didn’t Go Over So Well

Former White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki’s first aired show on MSNBC didn’t go over too well according to viewers.

Jen Psaki’s New Show on MSNBC

Jen Psaki, who is known for her phrase “Circle Back,” received backlash online after criticizing a conservative author for not providing a straightforward definition of the term “woke” during an interview on her debut MSNBC show on Sunday.

Psaki should be aware that certain issues are intricate and difficult to navigate. Even those who are responsible for conveying messages can experience moments of vulnerability, resulting in less than ideal outcomes.

People Critiqued Psaki’s Performance

Some people criticized Jen Psaki’s performance as President Biden’s first press secretary, stating that she struggled to provide clear and coherent answers to reporters’ questions.

However, she did not give conservative author Bethany Mandel any leniency after Mandel had difficulty defining “woke” during a recent segment on The Hill’s “Rising.”

Mandel’s Psaki-like moment came after host Briahna Joy Gray asked her to define “woke.”

“Woke is sort of the idea that — I — this is gonna be one of those moments that goes viral,” Mandel accurately predicted.

She continued, “I mean woke is something that’s very hard to define, and we’ve spent an entire chapter defining it. It is sort of the understanding that we need to … totally reimagine and redo society in order to great hierarchies of oppression.”

“Sorry. It’s hard to explain in a 15-second sound bite,” Mandel said.

Psaki was one of the people who joined in on the criticism of the segment, which ended up becoming widely shared online.

“Inside with Jen Psaki”

On her new Sunday show, “Inside with Jen Psaki,” the former Biden spokeswoman played the clip of Bethany Mandel struggling to define “woke” in an attempt to criticize her and show support for her own political views.

She told her MSNBC viewers, “Just two cents from someone who has worked a few years in communications: If you can’t explain it, and people don’t understand it in 15 seconds, it may not be the winning message you think it is.”

Psaki concluded, “So, everyone out there, it sounds like you can let your woke flag fly.”

Experts agree that it’s easier to appear articulate when you aren’t under pressure to provide prompt responses to pressing matters. At the very least, Mandel didn’t resort to using the now-infamous phrase “circle back” when faced with tough questions.
