‘Young and the Restless’ Star Dead At 76

Jennifer Leak, a former star on “The Young and the Restless” and “General Hospital,” has died, according to multiple reports.

She was 76.

Leak reportedly died on March 18 after battling progressive supranuclear palsy, a rare neurological disease that affects balance, vision and speech, for seven years.

Tim Matheson, her ex-husband and a star on “Virgin River,” posted about her death on Instagram.

“It is with a heavy heart that I shared the news of Jennifer Leak’s passing,” he wrote. “She wasn’t just my screen sister in ‘Yours, Mine and Ours,’ but also my beloved first wife.

“Jennifer was a remarkable woman, strong, lovely and incredibly talented,” he added. “My deepest condolences go out to her husband of 47 years, James D’Auria and their multitude of friends.”

Leak played Gwen Sherman for three years on “The Young and the Restless.” She had a long list of credits, too, with appearances on “General Hospital,” Hawaii Five-0,” “Nero Wolfe,” and “The Mary Tyler Moore Show.”
