The Plymouth County District Attorney’s office released surveillance video Saturday of a deadly shooting inside a Brockton hibachi restaurant the night before.
Shocking Shooting in Neighborhood Restaurant
Surveillance video appeared to capture the moment an alleged armed man entered a crowded Asian restaurant in Brockton, Massachusetts, and allegedly fatally shot a patron who was dining with another person Friday night, BOSTON25 NEWS reported.
The victim — Joe Araujo, 22 — was sitting among a crowd of other diners at the Hibachi Supreme Buffet on Crescent Street at about 7:30 p.m. Friday when a hoodie-clad gunman walked up to his booth, pulled a handgun, and put at least one round through him at close range, according to CBS News Boston.
No one else was injured in the incident.
The gunman disappears behind a blast blocking the camera’s view – while buffet guests scramble to safety.
Video released by the Plymouth District Attorney’s Office appears to show the alleged suspect, who is reportedly still at large, walking through the Hibachi Sushi Supreme Buffet before stopping at a table and allegedly shooting the victim.
The victim, whom officials identified as 22-year-old Joe Araujo of Brockton on Saturday, was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased, according to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s office.
According to the DA’s office, preliminary investigations show Araujo was the target and this was not a random act of violence.
Law enforcement officials are asking anyone with any information to contact them immediately.
