Bobi, a happy dog, was born in 1992 and has just turned 31 years old, which is a whopping 217 years old in dog years!
Oldest Dog Alive Celebrates 217th Birthday
Bobi, May 11th, 1992, the World’s Oldest Living Dog and the World’s Oldest Dog Ever, as recognized by Guinness World Records, turned 31 years old.
“Bobi has been a warrior for all these years; only he knows how he’s been holding on, it must not be easy because the average dog’s life span is not that high, and if he spoke, only he could explain this success,” Costa the owner, told Guinness.
“We are very happy and grateful to life for allowing us, after 30 years, to have Bobi in our daily lives.”
Bobi replaced Bluey, an Australian cattle dog, as the record holder for the Oldest Dog Ever. Bluey died at 29 years and 5 months in November 1939.
To celebrate this important day the owner has invited over 100 people to attend his birthday party in Conqueiros, Portugal, with some guests even flying in from other countries.

Time Magazine created a video featuring the elder pup.
USA Today created a heartfelt birthday announcement.
“We’ve had a lot of journalists and people come from all over the world to take a picture with Bobi,” Costa, 38, said. “They’ve come from all over Europe, as well as the USA and even Japan.”
