Queen Elizabeth II, Britain’s longest-living monarch, died at age 96 yesterday leaving the royal throne to her eldest son, Charles.
Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II Dies
Queen Elizabeth II died peacefully at 6:30 pm (1:30 pm EST) Thursday at Balmoral Castle, at her beloved summer residence in Scotland. Members of the royal family rushed to her side after the announcement of her sudden decline in health.
According to the NY Post, “The Queen’s grandson Prince William, 40, and the Queen’s two other sons — Prince Andrew, 62, and Prince Edward, 58 — were pictured arriving at Balmoral Thursday afternoon. The Queen’s only daughter, Princess Anne, 72, was already in Scotland.”
Prince Harry arrived after the Queen’s passing.

Following further evaluation this morning, The Queen’s doctors are concerned for Her Majesty’s health and have recommended she remain under medical supervision.
The Queen remains comfortable and at Balmoral.
News outlets announced the queen’s health was in steady decline midday on Thursday when her doctors said she was under medical supervision.
Shortly afterward, the Palace released another statement confirming her death:

The Queen’s last appearance was on Tuesday when she was seen publicly at her Scotland residence and had officially appointed Liz Truss as the U.K.’s new prime minister. Her last photos show the late Queen using her cane and smiling at the cameras.
In May, the Buckingham Palace released a statement addressing her mobility ailment, as reported by People:
“The Queen continues to experience episodic mobility problems, and in consultation with her doctors has reluctantly decided that she will not attend the State Opening of Parliament tomorrow,” Buckingham Palace said in a statement
History of the Longest Reining Queen
Elizabeth Alexandra Mary was born at 2:40 am on April 21, 1926, at 17 Bruton Street in Mayfair, London, and was named after her mother. She has one sister.
Queen Elizabeth II reigned as Britain’s new Queen, age 25, after her father King George VI died, at age 56, on February 6, 1952. The Queen was coronated later in 1953 at 27 years old.
Her coronation was broadcasted on the radio around the world and at The Queen’s request, and was shown on public television for the first time in history.
Britain’s Queen was a figurehead and a towering presence on the world stage for a staggering seven decades.

According to Fox News, on Wednesday, September 8, 2022, Prince Charles became King Charles, and Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, became queen consort.
A queen consort is a title given to the spouse of a reigning king who was brought into the royal family by marriage.
King Charles, the former Prince of Wales, 73, is the oldest person in British history to be named monarch and the third of his name to reign. He will be known as King Charles III.
