Kristin Mink, an outspoken racy city council member openly admitted she believes that Muslims are like white supremacists.
Kristin Mink Makes Claims About Muslims, Whites
Democrat city council member Kristin Mink was recently criticized for claiming Muslim children speaking out at a school board meeting were “on the same side… as White supremacists,” and has a history of bashing “White women” and “Zionist Jews.”
Mink is a former public school teacher and was elected in December to the Montgomery County Council, representing District 5.
“This issue has, unfortunately, it does put… some Muslim families on the same side of an issue as White supremacists and outright bigots,” the Democrat said. “I would not put you in the same category as those folks, although, you know, it’s complicated because they’re falling on the same side of this particular issue.”
Mink prominently displays banners promoting the various rainbow-themed standards of the LGBT. The statement about Muslims came after a number of current and former Muslim students came forward to voice their concerns about the forced curriculum violating their faith.
Organization She Founded is “Too White”
The Democrat explained that the left-wing organization she co-founded, Lights For Liberty, was too White on the executive level for her preferences.
Mink said, “This is very difficult for me to write… I am also not OK with the state of our organization… I would be more than glad to come back on board if Black and Brown voices are given a seat at the executive table.”
“Having… White women representing us is going to add to the credibility issue, and doesn’t elevate the right voices,” she said.
Mink proceeded to blast the “the White feminism, gaslighting, and weaponized fragility” at Lights for Liberty and added she hopes they change in order to “decentralize White power.”
She also claimed that the term “patriot” is used to describe a White person.
“[N]ow is the time to take back the word ‘patriot.’ And to be clear, when I say ‘take back the word ‘patriot,” I mean people using it to actually mean ‘patriot’ taking it back from people who use it to mean ‘White people,'” she said.
Muslims Are Angry – Seeks Apology
Tensions between Muslim parents and Montgomery County Public Schools over the Maryland district’s mandatory LGBTQ books escalated after Mink’s statement.
Zainab Chaudry, director of CAIR’s Maryland office, said Ms. Mink used the public forum “to link your Muslim constituents with the same White supremacist groups who so often threaten our own existence and well-being.”
“To help repair some of the damage that your remarks caused, CAIR is seeking a statement from you publicly apologizing for your remarks and committing to showing respect for the views of Muslim families in Montgomery County, even if you personally disagree with them,” said Ms. Chaudry in the Tuesday letter.
Mink also has a history of anti-Israel commentary, at one point criticizing Trump officials on the basis of being “Zionist Jews.”
