Barr’s Controversy

Barr’s controversial tweet from 2018 resulted in her being kicked off the revived Roseanne sitcom, which was soon canceled.

The racially insensitive tweet was about Valerie Jarrett, the senior advisor to former President Obama. Rosanne Barr apologized, but the network had canceled her show, although the ratings were successful. Barr, who said she did not know Jarrett was black, blamed her tweet on “Ambien tweeting,” saying that she took the pill as a sleeping aid before sharing the tweet.

The comedy series was rebranded as The Conners, and her character was killed off off-screen.

Rosanne’s TV Career

Rosanne Barr, worth an estimated $80 million, began her career in the 80s as a stand-up comedian in Colorado, got a spot on The Tonight Show in 1985, and even ran for president in 2012. Throughout her career, she also was a writer and producer.

Roseanne’s stardom shot through the roof when she starred and Executive Produced in her sitcom Roseanne, which has been off the air since 1997. Barr received an Emmy and a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress while on the most watched television show, which garnered about 18 million viewers per episode.
