Soon customers can try the Honey Pepper Pimento Chicken Sandwich, a new take on the fast-food joints’ beloved Original Chicken Sandwich, and a new milkshake.
Chik-fil-A Makes Waves With New Menu Items
Beginning on August 28th the Atlanta-based fast-food chain said it will make a Honey Pepper Pimento Chicken Sandwich with its well-known original chicken filet plus a few toppings that add a “sweet and subtle spicy kick.”
In addition to the “custom-made” pimento cheese, the sandwich’s toppings will include “mildly pickled” jalapenos and drizzled honey, Chick-fil-A said.
The sandwich is the chain’s “first ever seasonal spin” on its original chicken sandwich, and the jalapeños are also a first, the news release said.
“We wanted to create a standout sandwich that would deliver a unique spin for our guests, without losing the classic taste of the Original Chick-fil-A Chicken Sandwich. The Honey Pepper Pimento Chicken Sandwich uses ingredients and flavors our guests have never experienced at Chick-fil-A before, balancing savory, sweet and spicy elements using the highest quality ingredients,” said Stuart Tracy, Chick-fil-A Chef and creator behind the Honey Pepper Pimento Chicken Sandwich.
Pass The Cheese, Pimento That Is
After more than a year of experimenting with nearly 30 sandwich options, and a successful market test in Asheville, N.C. and upstate South Carolina in 2020, the Honey Pepper Pimento Chicken Sandwich was selected to roll out nationally.
During testing, customers rated it highly on taste and value, surpassing other seasonal sandwiches and putting it on par with the Original Chick-fil-A Chicken Sandwich.
Pimento cheese is a Southern staple that combines cheddar cheese — though other cheeses are sometimes used — with mayonnaise, pimentos, and spices for a spread that can just as adeptly be a star or a supporting player.
It’s Seasonal
Another seasonal item will be a Caramel Crumble Milkshake made with butterscotch caramel flavors and blondie crumbs.
The Caramel Crumble Milkshake whips together “creamy butterscotch caramel flavors, hand-spun Chick-fil-A Icedream, blondie crumbles and topped with whipped cream and a cherry.”
Chick-fil-A chef Christy Cook says this new flavor, the brand’s seventh seasonal milkshake, was “inspired by the flavors that caramelize at the bottom of a blondie pan.”
