Breaking: What “Really Happened” To Banned Hunter Biden Laptop Story

Friday afternoon Elon Musk released information on what “really happened” to the banned Hunter Biden laptop story on Twitter.

Elon Musk’s Big Reveal

Twitter CEO and owner Elon Musk announced Friday afternoon he would reveal “what really happened” when the 2020 story about Hunter Biden‘s laptop was banned on Twitter and what happened with the account of the popular newspaper, the New York Post, and why they were suspended over it.

As promised and on time, Musk tweeted a link at 5 pm central standard time to the account of an independent journalist Matt Taibbi, who began posting a long series of what appears, according to the New York Post, to be redacted emails from Twitter employees.

The article below is what began the original media frenzy on suppressing information about the Hunter Biden Laptop.

Twitter Goes Wild!

Former Rolling Stones writer Matt Taibbi released information via a series of Tweets starting around 5 pm CST Friday afternoon.

Let’s jump right to the story.

Here are most of the tweets by Matt Taibbi sharing information about Twitter hiding the Hunter Biden story and how it unfolded within the Twitter network, among politicians, and others.

THREAD BEGINS

Here are several noteworthy tweets:

Taibbi: Now getting into Twitter censoring the NYPost’s Laptop story. Notably absent: Any suggestion whatsoever that team Biden asked NYPost to censor the story! Looks like this was all on Twitter! Not good, huge f**UP by Twitter.

Taibbi: Khanna tries to reroute the conversation to the First Amendment, mention of which is generally hard to find in the files.

Taibbi: Within a day, head of Public Policy Lauren Culbertson receives a ghastly letter/report from Carl Szabo of the research firm NetChoice, which had already polled 12 members of congress – 9 Rs and 3 Democrats, from “the House Judiciary Committee to Rep. Judy Chu’s office.”

Taibbi: NetChoice lets Twitter know a “blood bath” awaits in upcoming Hill hearings, with members saying it’s a “tipping point,” complaining tech has “grown so big that they can’t even regulate themselves, so government may need to intervene.”

Taibbi: An amazing subplot of the Twitter/Hunter Biden laptop affair was how much was done without the knowledge of CEO Jack Dorsey, and how long it took for the situation to get “unfucked” (as one ex-employee put it) even after Dorsey jumped in.

The Tweets

As of 8:45 pm EST on Friday afternoon, here is Matt Taibbi’s series of Tweets about Twitter’s suppression of the Hunter Biden laptop story from the New York Post.

New York Post Speaks

When the original story was released on Twitter and Facebook, the social media giants took extraordinary censorship measures against The New York Post when they first published its expose on the emails discovered on Hunter’s laptop in October 2020.

The New York Post released an article Friday afternoon, shortly after Taibbi began tweeting, explaining what happened and noting that it took about 18 months for other news outlets to report on the Biden laptop news finally.

The newspaper also said, “Jack Dorsey, Twitter’s CEO at the time, later admitted during a congressional hearing on misinformation and social media in March last year that blocking The Post’s report was a “total mistake.”

Elon Musk will release “Episode 2” of the Twitter Files on Saturday.
