The ‘Back to the Future’ stars Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd were seen together again, in an emotional reunion at New York Comic Con.
‘Doc and Marty’ Are Back Together Again
“Back to the Future” stars Micheal J. Fox, born June 9, 1961, and Christopher Lloyd, 83, were reunited during a New York Comic Con, 37 years after the release of the sci-fi comedy.
“Doc” Emmett Brown and Marty McFly (Lloyd and Fox) were on stage together and reminisced about the old days. Fans were brought to tears on social media after videos of the pair went viral, capturing an emotional reunion between the stars.
The crowd welcomed them with huge applause.
During the NYCC event, Fox revealed sentiments about his Parkinson’s disease and told the audience “Parkinson’s is the gift that keeps on taking — but it’s a gift, and I wouldn’t change it for anything. People like Chris (Lloyd) have been there a lot for me, and so many of you have. It’s not about what I have, it’s about what I’ve been given — the voice to get this done, and help people out.”
Back to the Future
The blockbuster hit Back to the Future was released in 1985 and is a movie about a teen, Marty, who accidentally travels back in time thanks to his friend Doc.
Fans today might not realize that Fox joined the production of the film while it was already underway and replaced Eric Stoltz, who started to play Marty McFly during the first six weeks but was let go because he wasn’t a “good fit.”
The Back to the Future trilogy was a hit among families and is renowned to this day.
Michael J. Fox and Parkinsons
Fox was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 1991 and has dedicated much of his professional life to raising funds to help combat the illness ever since.
Fox is set to be honored by the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences at this year’s Governors Awards for his contributions to film and his efforts to help cure Parkinson’s disease. Fox will receive the Academy’s Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award at the event, which is scheduled for Nov. 19.
The 61-year-old star, who was diagnosed with the disease at the age of 29, founded the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research in 2000.
New York Comic Con is an annual event and “is the East Coast’s largest pop culture convention and the only one that takes place in the comic book, publishing, media, and licensing capital of the world — Gotham City.”
